PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Exploring Virtual and Augmented Reality at Oregon Story Board

jeanneOregon Story Board hosted a two-day class for classroom teachers to explore the potential of virtual and augmented reality in the classrooms. Teachers got to experience the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, and the Microsoft Hololens to discuss the possibilities of using virtual and augmented reality in education, as well as how to introduce students to possibilities for learning how to create content for virtual and augmented/mixed reality. FIELD TRIP: Writers in the Schools at Portland Art Museum

Visiting the Portland Art MusuemStudents in the Writers in the Schools class visited the Portland Art Museum to see the Contemporary Native Photographers and the Edward Curtis Legacy exhibit, featuring the works of Zig Jackson, Wendy Red Star, and Will Wilson. Students connected their personal writing around stereotypes and misrepresentation to these powerful works. As an added bonus, we also got to see the world’s most epic cat painting—My Wife’s Lovers—in person!
